Institutional Projects



The former Lake Wales City Hall building constructed in 1920 was renovated to provide a new campus for Polk Community College. The Mediterranean Revival structure contains five 30-seat classrooms, two 45-seat computer classrooms and a 30-seat multipurpose room for classes and community use.
Construction was recently completed on the new, 8,633 square foot Joe K. and Alberta Blanton Nursing Building for Florida Southern College. The structure is masonry with steel barjoists and decking, and will consist of classrooms, a simulation laboratory, a student lounge, and faculty offices.

According to Florida Southern College, the building will house their growing nursing program, which includes "Polk County's only four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program."

The Davis Fine Arts Building received an extensive interior renovation of its 8,000 square foot music auditorium. With its superb acoustics and visual aesthetics, this facility provides the Florida Southern College music department with the perfect environment for rehearsals and performances.
Henkelman Construction, Inc. recently completed construction on this new, 66,042 square foot Freshman Academy for Haines City High School. This faciltiy houses traditional classrooms, science laboratories, a library and related support areas. It provides the ninth grade students with an environment that promotes a smooth transition from middle school to high school.
This project involved an extensive renovation of the Administration Building on Polk Community College's Winter Haven campus. The 29 year old building was expanded from 45,000 square feet to 50,055 square feet. With the exception of the exterior walls, everything in the building is brand enw, including the upgraded technology. Nine computer kiosks are located along the first floor hallways, which will allow students to register or check grades.
Henkelman Construction, Inc. was contracted by the Diocese of Orlando to furnish and install a basketball court pre-engineered metal building canopy with two basketball goals and lighting. Two restrooms and a storm water collection system for roof water runoff were also installed.
